Now, armed with the (incomplete but still useful) information provided by u/jscher2000 in the comment (apologies if I am annoying you by mentioning you here), immediately after the restore failed, I looked at my sessionstore-backups folder and found that, in addition to the most recent recovery.jsonlz4 and recovery.baklz4 (both last updated at the restore attempt time, and 2 KB, reflecting the 'restored' session's empty status), there were files from before that restore attempt, including a recovery.jsonlz4 and an upgrade.jsonlz4 from the time of the April 29 th restart. that's also largely why I haven't followed up on the comments on the latter posts-it's a vicious cycle.)Īlso note that since my last comments one of the issues (the titular and largest one) had actually seemed to have been spontaneously resolved: On April 29 th, after for some reason it started refusing to load new tabs, I decided to reopen Firefox my typical way-that is, restarting my whole computer, in this case deliberately-and to my delighted surprise, it had restored my tabs as they had existed on April 26 th (at the time of an earlier crash preceded by similar issues) rather than those from April 11–12 th ( de jure April 15 th, but IIRC that was basically a refresh back to that date) as had previously been the case.

(Note that I haven't further followed up on those comments, largely because of the compounded inconvenience of the problems described in that question as well as broader problems with my web interaction experience.
